This 1981 Chevrolet Corvette is a serious custom C3 build with an incredible amount of work, fabrication, and high-end detail throughout. Built as a one-off widebody Corvette, this car blends classic C3 styling with modern LS power, a manual transmission, upgraded chassis, coilover suspension, big brakes, custom wheels, and show-quality paint. There are only a small number of C3 widebody builds like this around the country, making this a very unique and highly impressive Corvette.
Power comes from a 5.3L LS engine that was pulled apart, gone through, and upgraded with a Nitrous Sloppy Choppa Cabra cam, full Holley EFI port injection, a custom drive-by-wire throttle body designed to mimic the factory small-block Chevy look, and a complete EFI fuel system with pump, regulator, and lines. It also features custom long-tube headers feeding custom side pipes, a CVF accessory drive kit, a full custom cooling setup, and a large nitrous system for serious performance.
Backing the LS is a fully built T56 manual transmission, giving this Corvette the kind of engaging driving experience enthusiasts want. The engine and transmission have been paint matched, adding to the clean, show-quality presentation of the build.
Underneath, the car has been completely upgraded with a fully powder-coated chassis, aftermarket tubular suspension, and coilover suspension. Stopping power is handled by a large Wilwood brake system from master cylinder to pads, along with upgraded brake lines. The result is a C3 that has been built far beyond stock in both performance and drivability.
The exterior is a major highlight, featuring a one-off widebody look and a stunning pearl blue paint job completed from top to bottom. It also includes electric headlight conversion, custom front lip, massive one-off custom powder-coated wheels, glass T-tops, fresh glass all the way around, and all-new seals throughout. The tires have less than 1,000 miles on them, and the car presents as a truly high-level custom build.
Inside and throughout the car, modern comfort and usability were also considered, including Vintage Air A/C with custom A/C lines. This Corvette was built for a repeat client with multiple C3 builds, and it shows the level of experience and detail that went into the project.
